    Essential topic, inspiring and actionable

Posted by Amanda Myers on 31st May 2019

I jumped into this breakout during the last few days of the live run ahead of an in-home newborn + family session. It had been awhile and I wanted a good refresher. This class was much more than I had expected! I was able to take what I learned and apply them immediately in that session. For me, I started out doing posed newborns - I had the beanbag and the backdrop and all the props. I studies posing and spent probably (definitely) too much time at a client's home waiting for baby to get sleepy enough to pose. After a couple friends had babies, I took pictures "as a friend" and took a more lifestyle approach. When I realized how much more laid back that approach was, and I really loved the resulting images, I got rid of all my stuff and only offered lifestyle sessions. However...clients who had me before and now are having additional children still wanted a few posed shots. Clients who have had previous photographers or see their friends' pictures on social media, they still want a few more traditional posed newborn shots. Chelsey taught that you CAN have a middle ground, it doesn't have to be one way or the other. She's built a successful business giving clients what they REALLY want - not one or the other, but a beautiful variety of both posed newborn portraits and lifestyle family pictures. (Disclaimer: I've only gone through the ebook, I haven't yet had a chance to go through the videos! The ebook alone was well worth it!)

    - it is packed with so much information and the session videos are invaluable! I loved getting the opportunity to watch Chelsey pose babies and I LOVE the fact that she only uses easy poses- I’ve always put pressure on myself to perfect all the newborn poses out there and I’m definitely going to be changing the way I pose after reading through her material. It was also a treat to watch her lifestyle video- her styling tips and posing will definitely help me with not only working with newborn clients, but also my family sessions as well!

Chelsey jam packed her pdf with SO much priceless information! I have always shot “lifestyle newborn” sessions but over the last few months, I have been feeling called to incorporate some posed options into my in home sessions so this breakout couldn’t have come at a better time! The behind the scenes videos and exercises are amazing!

Chelsey explained things in an insightful, clear way. She lead us through some very helpful exercises to help us really internalize the concepts. I love the included PDF and videos. If you’re on the fence about this course, get it! It’s well worth it! I’m a seasoned photographer, and I still learned a lot!
