About Lensbaby Love
Three talented artists will share their tips and tricks for mastering the Lensbaby in Lensbaby Love: The Basics and Beyond. Whether you are just starting out with the Lensbaby or whether you are hoping to take your creative imagery to the next level, Katherine, Caroline and Jen will guide you through the process of creating beautiful images with these unique optics.
Let Katherine share her passion for all things Lenbaby. First Katherine will walk you through Lensbaby basics. She will give you practical tips and tricks to help you learn how to master your Lensbaby. Katherine will discuss how shooting with the Lensbaby helped to develop her style. She will introduce you to the wonderful world of the zone plate/pinhole photography using the Lensbaby optics. After reading the PDF, watch a video where you will head out with Katherine on a Lensbaby self-portrait shoot. She will discuss how she uses various Lensbaby optics in her shooting to achieve her unique Lensbaby style.
Caroline's portion of the breakout will cover macro and emotive portraiture with the Lensbaby Sweet 35 and Edge 80. She has a deep passion for macro photography and will share her "secret sauce" for creating amazing lens flare as well as tips and tricks for great macro shots. You will also learn a bit about her creative post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop.
In Jen's Lensbaby Breakout session, she discusses the basics of the Lensbaby lens lineup and optic swap system and how she fell in love with these creative tools. She shares her tips for getting started with your Lensbaby, how to determine which lens and optic is right for you, and she provides images from both the circular focus of the Double Glass Optic and the slice of focus from the Edge 80. She will cover floral/fine art imagery, how to incorporate the lenses into your everyday lifestyle photography, and how to use your Lensbaby for portrait sessions.
Katherine is a lover of grain, grit and all things Lensbaby. She has been shooting with her Lensbaby for several years now, but made the decision to abandon her ‘L’ glass and shoot exclusively with her Composer Pro a year ago. Doing so has propelled her to pursue her fine art photography and, consequently, has gained several of her photos spots in juried shows across the country. Katherine has also had photos published in ‘The Sun’ and is preparing for her first solo photography exhibition in the fall. She lives in the cornfields of Illinois on a farm with her husband, three girls, three ponies, a handful of chickens and other miscellaneous animals.
Caroline is a natural light photographer who specializes in Lensbaby work and creative processing. She enjoys capturing her children and the beauty of nature on her farm in Southwest Minnesota. Her favorite moments include family movie nights, copious amounts of dark chocolate, and her daily pot of dandelion coffee.
Jen lives in Santa Barbara, CA with her husband and 6 year old son. Jen purchased her first DSLR when her son turned 2, and shortly after that Z’s the Day Photography was born. Jen loves capturing the joy of families and children in one of the many beautiful locations Santa Barbara has to offer, combining the spontaneity of a lifestyle session with traditional posed portraits. When she’s not behind the camera, you can find Jen at the pet hospital where she also works, at the gym, or out enjoying the California sun.

This is a fantastic set of PDFs and videos. Each author takes a somewhat different approach, which makes this a really comprehensive and effective learning resource.
